My name is Marissa/Missea and I like to draw these tattoo style sort of drawings mainly inspired by lyrics.

As you may have noticed, I have hardly been posting any artwork lately. I have been consumed with focusing on graduating from college in 52 days (according to my countdown) and securing a job in the field that I love (which has been a lot of fun!). Unfortunately, art hasn’t been in the forefront of my mind because of this and I honestly haven’t even opened my sketchbook in months.
That being said, I will never be done with art. I do have a few concepts mulling around my brain that I will eventually sit down and draw out and I will, as promised, draw something for any new Pierce the Veil released, but it’s just not something I incorporate into my every day life anymore.
Your support still means the world to me and I am baffled every time I look into my notes and see an old post blowing up! Just know that while I may not be as active as before, I will never be completely done.
Thank you for sticking around, I love you all! Remember to take a break from Tumblr every once in a while and go after what you want most, it’ll pay off in the end ♡♡♡
hi all! I apologize for my lack of posts, I had finals and then I got sick (still am) and then Christmas and… you get the picture.
I did the “12 Days of the New Year” thing last year, I’m thinking of doing something similar.. I have to make up for all the posts I’ve missed!
I hope you all had a wonderful holiday and are getting excited for 2016!
It has been one hell of a summer, but school is back in session and it’s time to get down to business and accomplish the many goals I have for myself this year. What I’m saying is… I’M BACK!
Thank you all again and again for sticking around with me. I didn’t post nearly as much as I had hoped this summer and I feel that I owe you an explanation for it. So, here goes:
This summer….
I interned at Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival within the signage department. We, our team of five, were responsible for nearly every sign you see at the festival - vendor, informational, directional - which is over 1,000 signs. We worked a minimum of 12 hour days for 2 weeks straight and let me tell you… it was AWESOME. I got to see the festival from start to finish, from empty to packed with 90,000 attendees. It was the hardest I’ve ever worked in my life and I LOVED it. Plus, I got to enjoy the festival and even see Twenty One Pilots front row center!
I got to shadow Pierce the Veil’s tour manager for a couple of days on Warped Tour! There are a few stand out moments in my lifetime, but this one takes the cake. Not only did I learn a boatload of vital information to help me in my endeavor to become a tour manager myself, but I literally got to straight chill with my favorite band. You can catch a few glimpses of me in the video at 1:49, 1:57, and 3:09!
I turned 21! I spent it partying ever so responsibly with my favorite people in the world and woke up on the living room floor, so I think I did it right. And my best friend got me a mimic Harry Potter cake…. even if my name was spelled wrong (shhhh).
And finally, WE GOT A HOUSE! The process was definitely one of the most stressful and let me tell you, you learn a lot about yourself when you spend 3 weeks “homeless”. But we are in and slowly but surely making it our own. Thank you to all of you who thought of us during this ordeal, it’s time to make things happen in this fantastic new environment.
Those were the big moments of my summer, but this year is going to be bigger - for YOU! I have been promising that big things are coming, and it’s time to deliver on that.
First off, I am back to my weekly post. I will be posting a new drawing every Saturday, so send me your lyric requests!
And in the next couple of weeks be prepared for a launch of something exciting. Senior year isn’t going to know what hit it.
I love you all, thank you for your unwavering support. LET’S DO THIS!
Not to make too personal of a post, but my roommates and I have been relentlessly searching for a house to live in/rent and it’s been very stressful! We found a place today and applied for it, so if you pray, please pray that it works out.
After we’re settled I promise I have big plans for this year! Lots of art and other fun stuff.
Hey all!
My posts will be sparse these next couple of weeks as I am currently interning in Tennessee on Bonnaroo! I can’t post any pre-show photos, but let me tell you this place is awesome and I am drinking in every second of it. Follow me on Instagram for more updates! @missayyj
I am so thankful for this opportunity, but let me say it would not have been possible without hard work! I don’t want to sound preachy, but all I’m saying is that if you are passionate about something, you can make it happen. xxx
I have been slacking in a major way with this blog and for that I apologize. Life is the busiest it’s ever been lately (in the best way!!) and I’ve been dying to get my hands on a pencil and paper, but there are only 24 hours in a day.
Final exams are coming up and then I’m home free for the summer. Summer brings a bunch of new and exciting adventures, but I promise I’ll be able to focus more on my lyric art once I don’t have to worry about a full class load.
For now, please bear with my spotty posting and lack of activity. I promise that your support does not go unnoticed - I still can’t believe that every day I gain more followers and notes, it never ceases to make my heart swell.
Things are going to get good. I promise. Stick with me.
I think one of the coolest things about my art is when I see people comment on my drawings with the lyrics to sing along to whatever song I drew.
I like that my art gets people singing, even in their mind for just a second. And that maybe when they hear the song and lyric again they think of my art. It makes me happy.
I’m sorry I haven’t been very active lately, I’ve fallen out of the habit of drawing every week. But, I just started oil painting again and I’m so happy about it! For now since I’m focusing more on painting than drawing, I’m going to set up a queue of some of my old stuff just to keep my blog in operation. And I’ll definitely post the my painting once it’s finished!
First, I want to reiterate that I do see all of your messages/suggestions/kind words and I soooo very much appreciate them, they all have me smiling like an idiot to my computer screen. I wish I could draw all of your lyric suggestions!
Second, I’m really loving stipple lately. I think I’m going to do a lot more of that.
Third, can I just draw forever and not worry about scholarship applications? I’m going to pretend for the night….
